Week 1: Blogs.

I’m interested in one post on http://tametheweb.com/, particularly in user centred libraries and personalisation and also how other posts on the site tie in with topics such as web 2.0, gaming, second life reference desk and twitter. While I haven’t taken the survey mentioned in the post (very busy, I will eventually) I am about to start work on a research/briefing paper that will asses the needs of international students and how they interact with the library where I work. I’m planning on making personalisation a major aspect of the paper. I’m still brainstorming at this stage but I wanted to focus on enhancing user interfaces e.g. Catalogues with multilingual options, portals that students can actively contribute to, short courses that address the needs of students in accessing the library and the services that it provides. I also liked http://annoyedlibrarian.blogspot.com/ mainly because it accurately describes some of my co-workers and their attitudes towards libraries and librarians in general.

  1. Hi Daniel,

I did have a long winded comment here, but I clicked Preview, and then it didn't work, and when I clicked back all my positive feedback had disappeared into the ether. Sigh.
I just wanted to say welcome to the 'BlogOsphere', and that your research paper on international students sounds interesting. It will be cool to see if you can somehow incorporate some of the programs we've been learning about into their experiences.
Any hoo, that's about all from me.
Keep up the good work :P
