The final wrap up.

I have genuinely enjoyed the web 2.0 assignment. While I was aware of the existence of many of the sites and applications mentioned over the duration of the assignment, in the past I very seldom used any of them. I use the Internet nearly every day but I rarely actually contribute the sites that I visit. The assignment has enhanced my general understanding of the Internet and ongoing developments in web 2.0 such as mashups. I have begun to actively contribute to publicly accessible information on the Internet rather than just passively browsing web 2.0 sites such as YouTube or Google maps. I think that the assignment has changed the way that I view and use the Internet. I now regularly think about the processes involved in the creation of websites, the information that they display and the potential uses of that information. I have been thinking about how I can contribute to and improve the sites that I regularly use whereas before I would only ever passively browse them. The assignment itself has been interesting and has allowed me a great deal of freedom in how I go about completing each stage of the assessment tasks. I feel that perhaps there could actually have been stricter guidelines provided so that I had a better idea of the standard of work that I was meant to complete. While I have enjoyed the practical nature of the course I was never really sure if the work that I was doing was sufficient. One thing that I have also had trouble with was attempting to maintain contact between group members. I regularly view their blogs, but it seems a little artificial and forced to communicate with the other members of my group about the topics of the assignment online when we already frequently discuss them in class.
